Jonathan West on set of How Do We Begin - Tae Hoon Yoo
Originally an Educational Producer with U-M’s College of Engineering, I co-founded and co-managed three independent film companies, where I wrote short & feature length films and composed multiple film packages. Most recently, I was the Company Manager for The Players, an applied theatre company working out of the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) at the University of Michigan (U-M), where I managed the scheduling, logistics, and finances of sessions performed virtually, on-campus at U-M, and at institutions and conferences all over the world. Having adapted one of these sessions, How Do We Begin, for the screen, my work was most recently submitted for a Regional Emmy. Additionally, my short film Bench Mark is currently in development and will be shot later this year in Atlanta.
As an undergraduate, I received the Landes Award for technical writing and had short fiction and poetry, and op-ed pieces, published in The Michigan Daily and The Michigan Independent, respectively. As a graduate student, I was Valedictorian of my class and received the Full Sail University Course Director Award in 5 out of 12 courses, which is presented to the top student in the class, honoring high marks (4.0 GPA in 11 of 12 courses), quality writing, excellent communication, and a strong desire to succeed in the industry.
